Easter, Spring crafts

I found this adorable table decoration on Tip Junkie with instructions, tutorial on DIY showing how to make it.  I will be heading to my local Michael's store to get the supplies I need and to Bed Bath and Beyond to find a milky white vase.

For the rabbit figurines I have an adorable green bunny figurine and green egg candles I will be using

in my Easter/Spring tablescape and will make the centerpiece with Forsythia, in a white vase, and styrofoam eggs which spell out Happy Easter hanging from the Forsythia .

The supplies I need are

Materials:
  • Creamy white vase (Scour thrift stores/etc.)
  • White ribbon  ( try getting materials at dollar store)
  • Straight pins
  • Deco Art Paint (I used Americana Gloss Enamels in yellow)
  • White bunnies
  • Paper Mache Eggs x 11 (I used styrofoam eggs)
  • Faux Forsythia (at Michaels )
This is the white vase I am using, the forsythia looked gorgeous with the sun streaming in on the table.
The next step to my version of this project will be to add the eggs hanging on ribbon from the branches of the forsythia. I purchased styrfoam eggs as opposed to the paper mache eggs suggested, hope it works.

I will Paint the styrofoam eggs and than use a sharpie to write each letter that will spell out Happy Easter.
I followed the directions from DIY the picture was from DIY.

I will post pictures after I complete this craft project, can't wait to start, it's been a long time since I attempted a craft project.

My experience shopping at Kroger saving on gas and groceries!

First of all on my first trip to Kroger I am proud to say I saved $14.73 by using all the rewards Kroger has to offer, sale items and using coupons plus earned 80 points toward savings on gasoline.

The first thing we did was to apply for their reward card called "the Kroger Plus Card" you can save money right away, load ecoupons right on the card and get points toward savings on gasoline.. It's the "smart card". There's even a iPhone app for the card!

Than we purchased a $100 , 123 reward debit card. with it you can manage your money better. Every 1,000 points you earn = $5 in free groceries*.

Check out all the ways you can save on gas and groceries at Kroger yourself! Our blog is all about getting wealthy by saving and earning with good strong at home businesses.

Organizing important documents-how long to keep them

Once you start an organizing project you might catch the organizing bug and see other areas that are in need of organizing.  That's exactly what happened to me, we were preparing our taxes and after going thru stacks of bills etc I decided my next huge project will be my home office.

There are built-in shelves that store books, family photo's, crafting supplies, office supplies, the shelves were dusty and looked to cluttered. I also have file cabinets that were not being utilized in a way that was constructive.  The professional organizer suggested we take everything off the shelves first, throw away unnecessary items and stack the rest in like items for example all books, photo's, supplies etc.

We dusted every item first than when the shelf was empty we dusted, washed and waxed each shelf. While sorting thru all the stuff we located things we forgot we had and at that point decided to take this to another level by organizing papers and placing them in file folders and now we can locate papers we need by checking our list of where to find certain papers. Next sorted thru important documents and placed them in appropriate containers for easy access when needed. Most are in a safe deposit box for safe keeping.

How long should creditcard statements be kept? If there are tax deductible charges on the statement keep it but if there aren't any than shred them immediately.

Keep tax statements and supporting documentation for 7 years.

Bank statements, keep for one year.

Hope this helped and happy organizing!

Organizing bathroom clutter

This is one of the organizers I chose for my bathroom organizing project, love it!

If you have health issues that prevent you from reaching down into cabinets than this is for you. If you like an organized bathroom than this is for you.

Most organizing tips are for those who want a clean room who don't have mobility issues whether temporary or permanent the tips I give are for folks who need to be able to access their things in lower cabinets that they may not be able to reach but that said anyone looking to organize can benefit!

Will have to take pictures of my recent bathroom organizing project and post them, I love organizing it brightens my psyche. Had to organize out of necessity, had knee surgery and arthritis flare couldn't bend down to get things out of cupboards in the bathroom, so I put everyday products on top of my counter and it looked messy. Went to Container store and bought organizers with handles, small lightweight ones that I could pick up, We put things in them that I use most often and placed them back into the cupboard, I also bought pretty colored organizers and put makeup in one, larger bottles in another, smaller tubes in another. Now when I leave the items on top of the counter the counter looks cleaner and I can put the things away off the counter when visitors come.

It helps when you have someone who can advise and help with the project, I am fortunate to have a daughter who is a pro at cleaning and organizing!
We than put the most used items in small lightweight organizers with handles and put them back into the bottom cabinets for easy access.  Leaving me feel more independent.
The Container store offers more organizing tips here .
  • Cabinets and drawers: For bathrooms with limited shelves or cabinet space, install a wall-mounted rack, or use a rolling cart or trays or baskets to hold personal toiletries. Using their own shower totes or organizers, family members can store their toiletries in their bedrooms and carry them to the bathroom when needed. Use drawer organizers, and assign one to each family member for storing personal toiletries and accessories.

CVS Shopping- A Beginners guide

My favorite drug store to shop in is CVS because of their "Extra Care Bucks" or ECB.
Thanks to my new BFF
Jenny of SouthernSavers who not only has a blog that is pretty it's extremely informative for those of us who want to get wealthier by saving money, she has a great video that explains in detail how to save money shopping at CVS.  I learned a lot watching the video even tho I thought I knew all there was to know about stacking manufacturers coupons and CVS coupons plus sale items and than the ECB's. Watch  the video and save, save, save, ENJOY!
