What's up with that?
Orange
White
Which are your favorite? White or orange?
My fall mantel with pumpkins
A Pumpkin tree
I am wondering why this year white pumpkins are so popular. I have to admit that I never knew there were white pumpkins before seeing so many this year, some even paint the orange ones white. Somehow I can't imagine a white pumpkin pie! I'm a die-hard orange pumpkin fan.
I found this interesting explanation on About.com :
Definition: Orange is so yesterday. Here in New England, white pumpkins, once a novelty, are becoming increasingly common, and these intriguing white orbs are all the rage when it comes to chic autumn decorating.

How about pink pumpkins!! Yes I actually bought some that have a pink tinge to them- part of the proceeds of the sales go to cancer research.
ReplyDeleteI like them both. The orange look festive, and the whites look more elegant, I think.
ReplyDeleteLove the white pumpkins. We have a pumpkin patch near us where you can choose from the field. We usually get all colors and shapes pumpkins, including white. It makes a very pretty arrangement near the door. No carving.

I've actually been looking for some white pumpkins. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo
ReplyDeleteI am visiting from Katie's hop. I love both of them...especially when they are together! Some white and some orange is what I plan to have this year!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I had no idea there are white pumpkins too. Though I do prefer the traditional orange ones. However when they are mixed together, like in one of the photos here, they do look quite colorful and charming.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this very interesting post, I learned something new. :-)
(Found you through Katherine's Blog Hop by the way.)
We have tried to grow white pumpkins so many times but have never succeeded. I officially give up! Take care, Laura
ReplyDeleteI love both of them especially when used together. I think the white pumpkins have almost a vintage look to them and unfortunately I've not been able to find that many of them around here in East TN. Your mantel is so pretty and I LOVE that mirror! Visiting from 52 Mantels!
ReplyDeleteI love your mantel and especially the mirror! So pretty! I like both orange and white pumpkins and think they look great used together. Not sure why the white pumpkins are all the rage but they are hard to find here in East TN. Or maybe I just don't know where to look yet. ;) Something about the white pumpkins makes me think vintage, which I love! Visiting over from 52 Mantels party!

HI, I have to try that chicken soup recipe posted on your blog, the surprise ingredient was the wheat flour.
DeleteThank you for all your sweet comments. I added a candlestick and placed a mini pumpkin on it to give it some height.
ReplyDeleteLove your mantel! I am starting to like white pumpkins more and more.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I added a candlestick to the mantlescape to add height and interest.
