Country Burlap flower bouquet

Tutorial can be found here:
http://www.labellebride.com/2012/01/18/how-to-make-a-burlap-flower-bouquet/

I hear burlap anything is big this year. I have seen many different wreaths made with burlap flowers, plus bouquets, centerpieces and one of my favorites is burlap roses on toss pillows.

I found tutorials on how to make the flowers and found this one the easiest.  What will you make with burlap? Please feel free to add your comments. We love comments!

What to do with used dryer sheets

Can you believe that beautiful lantern was made from used dryer sheets?  Blogging ladies are sooo creative! I can see this beautiful idea as a mobile or a lantern.  Myric from PetitesPassion blog was kind enough to give a very detailed tutorial.  She did mention concerns about using this as a lantern, as a potential fire hazard, her husband didn't seem to think it would be but caveat..

Recently I learned how to use coffee filters to make a wreath, (can used coffee filters work?)

Word of the year 2012 - Blessings

Thanks to Layla at TheLetteredCottage for her "Word of the year" linky party for inspiring me to think of one word I would wish or want to happen in 2012.

"

Basically, you choose one word that has the potential to inspire you and create intention in your life, all year long."

Many words came to mind, Believe, Encourage, Love, but ultimately the one word I chose is

Blessings, because of health challenges, and the pain I have endured this past year I pray daily that God Bless me with good health and take all pain away. I pray The Lord bless my family with health, happiness, joy.

The definition of blessing is:

bless·ing

  [bles-ing]
noun
1.
the act or words of a person who blesses.
2.
a special favor, mercy, or benefit: the blessings of liberty.
3.
a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness.
4.
the invoking of God's favor upon a person: The son was deniedhis father's blessing.
5.
praise; devotion; worship, especially grace said before ameal: The children took turns reciting the blessing.

Be Blessed!

Valentine Snow Globe cake

Valentines day is almost here, amazing isn't it? What brings memories of Valentines day past? Remember those little heart candies with messagaes like, "Be Mine, Kiss Me" etc. Called Conversation heart candies by candy maker Necco,

A beautiful and new idea for a Valentines Day party cake, how about a Snow Globe Cake?

Snow Globe Cake
For more info click on the photo.

Bake a 10" round layer cake or buy a ready made cake from the bakery, sprinkle round white non-pareils from any cake baking section on top of the cake for snow. Imagine a red iced cake with the white sprinkled on it, cute! Use your creativity to make it a snow-globe scene.
The secret to the "snow globe" is a bowl from IKEA,  8" round glass 'Blanda' bowl from IKEA.
  • HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

My Resolution for 2012

One resolution I made for 2012 is to redecorate our furniture and our home. I get inspiration from Becca's blog "Adventures in decorating". She posts some awesome before and after pictures. Becca uses a lot of Anne Sloan's Chalk paint.
Chalk paint

She used "Old White" and "Chateaux Gray".

See her before and after pictures, the following is one of my favorites......Look at the dramatic change!

BEFORE

AFTER

Isn't it amazing?
Go to her blog to see the rest of her before and after photo's and get your own inspiration. My concerns are how to use chalk paint,  how long it will last, and if it will chip or not.  I'm also wondering how many coats are needed to cover the object.

Bottom line is I need to do more research about chalk paint on furniture, walls and all surfaces. If you used the paint I would appreciate comments, tips, suggestions good or bad.
